List Manager Forum

no data shown in my testsytem

User webmaster-kcm 2026-06-10 15:18:14

Hello,
I've noticed for some time now that data in my test system's ListManager—which comes from the Joomla database—is no longer being displayed.
Neither in the frontend (via the module) nor in the backend (Manage Data).
There's no error message; nothing happens.
However, in the backend, I can export the data as a CSV in the Manage Data dialog. So the data is there; I can also view it in the database using phpMyAdmin.
In my production environment everything works fine.
So this isn’t an urgent problem right now—everything works fine in the production environment—but I don’t want to wait until…

My environment: I have two systems—the production system and a test system.
The test system is created from the production environment using AkeebaBackup and runs on a different server.
Prod: PHP 8.5.5, MySQLi 10.11.14-MariaDB-ubu2204
TEST: PHP 8.5.3, MySQLi 10.5.19-MariaDB-0+deb11u2
Both systems are running Joomla 5.4.6
Listmanager 6.0.1

Hello,
there must be some difference between the 2 displays, we suggest to check if your data configuration, (fields settings, data layout...etc), is properly stored at your test system. If you can't spot any difference you can share at the private section a temp access so we'll check and let you know how to fix.

Hi,
ok, thanks, we've checked your site and we see there is a warning message breaking the data format. This is caused by the error reporting level setting, that in your case is 'system default'. If you change it to 'none' at (system->global configuration->server) you should see your data showing properly, please let us know otherwise.
Anyway we'll remove that internal message for future versions so we'll avoid this to happen to other users upgrading from previous versions.

Thanks, best regards

Vielen Dank, ja das funktioniert jetzt (auch alle Lists im Frontend). Seltsame Sache, der error reporting level ist (natürlich) auch im PROD auf 'system default' - ohne dass es den Listmanager stört. :-)

sorry, forgot the translation :

Thank you very much, yes, it’s working now (including all lists in the front end). Strange thing – the error reporting level is (of course) set to ‘system default’ in PROD too, without it causing any issues for the List Manager. :-)

Hi,
great it worked. Yes, it can happen, because 'system default' means 'what your server configuration says is the default level', so maybe at your prod site the default error level doesn't include warnings and at the test site it has a different configuration. For prod sites, the suggested setting would be 'None', in order to hide any visible log that could provide unwanted data to users.

Kind regards,

wow that's a good explanation. I added this to my internal documentation.
I think I can close the account on the test system?

Sure, you can close the account now, and we close the ticket with that solution then.
Please open a new one in case you find further issues..
