ordering filters values

User moon_1262 2026-02-13 11:06:56

Hi,

I couldn't figure out this one :

I have two identical lists with only one of them being editable (named Manager)
For 3 of the multiple options fields of these two lists, one of the editors reordered the values so that they appear in alphabetical order in their corresponding filters. He did it for both the normal, public list and for the editable one (manager)
It gave the expected result for the manager list (when the editors are logged in) : the filter values are now in alphabetical order.
But it did nothing for the public list which keeps displaying unordered values in those filters.

It seems that I managed to make the alphabetical order stick for one of the filters but I can't figure out how I did it (tried several things).
EDIT : it is even more strange than I first thought : it now is unordered again !

Could you take a look please ?

Thanks,
regards

Hi,
if the 2 lists point to the same db table, there must be any difference at the filters configuration that may be causing this. Can you please recheck the passw you shared? We just tried but we're not allowed to enter, sorry. We'd like to check your filters and table configuration in order to try to reproduce here.

Thanks, best regards

Hi Silvia,

Did you manage to get access to the website and check what's wrong with its lists ?

Hi,
sorry for the delay, this update should have appeared here much earlier. The problem with the password is that contains something similar to a html tag, and it gets truncated when inserted into the page. We have managed to recover the whole pass, and saw that the 2 list have the filters configured in a different way.
At the List->Display, you have the manager list configured with 'Autofilter'=NO. This means the filter will show a fixed list of options, and it keeps the default ordering.
But the other one has the autofilter enabled, this means the filter will reload automatically taking into account the other filters and the actual values at the database. This can be the origin of the difference, because you surely have 2 different values recorded textile and Textile, and both of them are recovered to fill the option list.

Please try it disabling autofilter, you should see the same filters for both lists.

So obvious…
Sorry I disturbed you for this.
I should have spotted it.
It is – of course – resolved.

Thanks Silvia for taking the time and for your patience too.

Kind regards,
