Dynamic fields? 18.10.2011 21:53

Hi,

I would like to know whether in your component, you can add dynamic fields;

Example: payroll calculator
In the drop-down list I
employee
employer.

If I choose my employer is open to specific fields
and if I select the employee is open to me the other fields

I wish you could insert a field with copying its contents into other fields.

Hello,
sorry to tell you at this time you can not define dynamic sections,
it's a feature we're studying to add for next version of calcbuilder.
As a purchaser, we want you to know you're entitled to receive future
release of the extension.

Thank you for your reply.

When can I expect a new version?

Re: Dynamic fields? 18.10.2011 21:54

Hello,
depending on the suggestions received, we try to release new versions each couple of months. Last version was released about first days in september, so in a few weeks next one will be published.

Hope this helps,

Did you include this evolution in current version ?
I see that "Filtered_Sections" example do the job. Is it the way we should do this ?

Hello,
yes, with current release you can show/hide fields (or even change its options), using js section. The example deals with a single select hiding/showing two other fields, but you could extend it to hide full sections, like everything inside a div/span, for example.

Let us know if you need more help with this.

Regards

Hello,

Can you give some examples to show and hide a section / field depending on the selected options from the option list.

Best regards

Hi,
you have available a couple of working examples that you can download and import from your customer area:

Hide/Show form sections depending on select combo box(I)
Hide/Show form sections depending on select combo box(II). Using slide effect.

Following ex II ,the steps that you have to follow:

- Create your option field

- Go to form layout, and create the special sections identified with classes (toggle the editor in order to find out the names applied). One common class name for every hide/show section, and an specific class name for each option, which is created using a prefix + the option value that we want to attach.

- Go to js tab, and check the code needed. First, hide every section. Then, each time the combo is changed, hide every section, and show the specific one according to the option selected. This time we also added a number (time) at the show function in order to create a slide effect.

Hope this helps, please let us know if you have further questions about the example provided.

Thank you, best regards
